Summary[edit]

Description
English: Ancient door in St Botolph's church, Hadstock This ancient oak door once had the skin of an irreverent Dane nailed to it. He had been murdered, had his skin stripped from his body and displayed as a warning to others to obey the Lords word. The skin is preserved, I believe, in Saffron Walden museum. ( Information gathered from "Essex Countryside Magazine", 1950s vintage )
