Standing next to Cardoso is Celso Amorim, then Ambassador of Brazil to the UN, later Brazil's foreign minister under Lula de Silva. Next to Celso is Itamar Franco, a former president of Brazil

This honor took place at the Bazilian Embassy in NYC, 1998.

Standing with him is his wife Elvira Telles Vivianni Le Blanc and daughter Vivienne
