Dansk: På Københavns Vold aftenen før Store Bededag
  • Dansk: De fire hovedpersoner i forgrunden er til venstre handelsagent M. J. Philipsen med fru Wilhelmine Richter under armen; til højre grosserer, handels- og annonceagent W. O. Funder og forfatteren Meïr Aron Goldschmidt. Herren med hatten er enten professor Rung eller en hr. Damborg. Digteren Christian Winther står i baggrunden med sin stok ved munden, mens den høje herre i profil yderst til højre menes at være kunstnerens selvportræt. Drengen med kræmmerhuset og den lille pige er tilsyneladende hans børn. Lænet op af træet yderst til venstre (med kasket på hovedet) står bagerlaugets oldermand Christian Joachim Ruby. Helt til venstre i baggrunden skimtes arveprinsesse Caroline og arveprins Ferdinand.Personerne på billedet er angivet af Alfred Jepsen i tidsskriftet Verden og Vi, nr. 28, 1913, p.4f.
