English: Portrait of Sophie of Brandenburg (1568-1622), wife of Christian I, Elector of Saxony (1560-1591)
"Kurfürstin Sophia von Sachsen, geborene Markgräfin von Brandenburg, ist hier etwa 21-23 jährig wiedergegeben. Das Gewand zeigt die Farben Rot und Lichtgrün und ist mit goldenen Borten verziert. Eine mit feiner Spitze umsäumte Halskrause verbirgt den Hals. Ein auffallender Kopfschmuck aus Draht, Perlen und Edelsteinen ziert die Frisur. Um den Hals trägt Sophia an einer Edelsteinkette ein außergewöhnlich großes Kleinod. Auf den aus Diamanten gebildeten Buchstaben IHS sitzen drei Pelikane als Symbol des Opfertodes Christi, zwei Putti halten eine Krone über dem Christusmonogramm, worüber die Buchstaben A&O ineinander verschränkt stehen. Drei große dreieckige Diamanten und zahlreiche kleinere Edelsteine sind zu erkennen. Das ovale Porträt wird von einem rot-goldenen Ornament gerahmt. Das Bild stammt von Andreas Riehl d. J., der für den Brandenburgischen Hof arbeitete. Er schuf auch das Gegenstück zum Porträt der Fürstin, ein Bildnis des Kurfürsten Christian I. von Sachsen, Inv.-Nr. H 0024."
