| Description |
English: This gravel pile, apparently being used occasionally by Wyoming's transportation department, is composed of grayish anorthosite and some blackish nelsonite. Anorthosite is an uncommon intrusive igneous rock composed principally of sodic to calcic plagioclase feldspar, usually with minor pyroxene. Anorthosite is not common on Earth, but is abundant on the Moon. Nelsonite is a scarce intrusive igneous rock composed of magnetite, ilmenite, and apatite. I've seen both lithologies in road gravel in nearby Johnson Creek Canyon.
