Summary[edit]

Description
English: An Apollo kitharoidos, marble, said to be copy of antique sculpture, Italy, 1780s. However, original seems not to be known, and the sculpture may be a a rather free neoclassistic interpretation of the antique kitharoisos theme. The sculpture is located on the premises of the Drottningholm castle outside Stockholm in Sweden, in a bousquet in the baroque garden. It was bought by King Gustav III in Rome 1784 for the Drottningholm Castle gardens.
