English: Approaching Lathkill Lodge. Butterbur (Petasites hybridus) growing on the banks of the River Lathkill near Lathkill Lodge. A perennial plant which grows 70-150cm high, it blooms between March and May, this plant likes damp places. Butterbur got its name from the use of its leaves in olden times for wrapping butter. |
