Português: Apresentação da planta das obras nas Quintas do Estado: Quinta Vigia, Pavão e Bianchi. Com o professor José Rafael Basto Machado (1900-1966), o ministro das Obras Publicas, Eng. militar Eduardo de Arantes e Oliveira (1907-1982) e outros Professor José Rafael Basto Machado (Lisboa, 26 mar. 1900-Funchal, 20 jul. 1966), nascido em Lisboa, filho do médico madeirense Tomás Loureiro Machado e de D. Elisa Rafael Lecor Buys Basto, igualmente de uma família ligada à Madeira, veio muito novo para o Funchal, com os pais, onde faz os seus estudos secundários no liceu do Funchal, que termina no ano letivo de 1918/19, seguindo depois para o continente, matriculando-se na Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, mas curso que não chegou a completar por motivos de saúde, regressando ao Funchal. Ligado em Lisboa ao movimento do Integralismo Lusitano, seria depois um dos ativos apoiantes das ideias do Estado Novo, integrando, como professor do Liceu Jaime Moniz, os quadros dirigentes da Mocidade Portuguesa, depois a comissão administrativa da Câmara Municipal da Ribeira Brava, logo em 1926 e do Funchal, da Junta Geral, que preside, a partir de 3 de março de 1934 a 14 de janeiro de 1935. A sua mais importante obra, no entanto, viria a ser a montagem da Delegação de Turismo da Madeira a partir dos inícios de 1941, a que presidirá, interinamente, a partir de 2 de julho de 1947 e, efetivo, a partir de 15 de julho do ano seguinte. A Escola Hoteleira Basto Machado do Funchal, embora somente inaugurada a 27 de outubro de 1967, já depois do seu falecimento, receberia o nome em homenagem ao seu esforço e empenhamento. |
