English: GRAND CANYON, ARIZONA, April 4, 2018. At a special reception honoring the example of collaboration and bi-partisan friendship set by the late Representative Morris K. Udall and Senator John S. McCain, several new initiatives were announced that will enhance visitors’ understanding of the Grand Canyon landscape and emphasize the importance of cooperative efforts in conservation:
The celebration included the unveiling of a rendering of a tribute plaque that will be installed at Grand Canyon National Park to honor Representative Udall’s and Senator McCain’s legacies, shared love of the park, and their efforts to advance the conservation purposes for which it was established. Image description: Ambassador Kurt Volker, Executive Director of ASU’s McCain Institute for International Leadership, announced its plans to establish a periodic forum bringing national and international leaders to Grand Canyon National Park. There, they will discuss solutions to important global challenges, utilizing the park as inspiration in urging humanity to live up to its highest callings of protecting freedom and human rights, building prosperity, and ensuring tolerance and security for all.
