Afrikaans: In die omgewing van Minziro-bosreservaat in Oos-Sentraal-Afrika het talle brande (rooi gemerk), waarskynlik vir landbou-doeleindes, opgevlam terwyl die MODIS-instrument (spektroradiometer se mediumresolusie-aftaster) van NASA se Aqua-satelliet hierdie beeld op 5 Julie 2004 vasgevang het. Minziro is in die middel van die beeld, met verskeie ander bosreservate in die omgewing. Dit sluit in die Kikuru-, Ruchwezi-, Munene-, Ruasina-, Kiamawa-, Kantale-, Kikongoro-, Kankuma-, Kiau- en Rubare-bosreservate, asook die Namalala-, Tero-, Kigona-, Malabigambo-, Kaiso- en Lugengera-bosse. Ikimba-meer is opsigtelik in die suide.
English: In the vicinity of Minziro forest in east-central Africa, numerous fires (marked in red), probably agricultural in purpose, were burning when the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite captured this image on July 5, 2004. Minziro is at the center of the image, but several other protected forests are situated in the area shown. They include Namalala Forest, Tero Forest, Kigona Forest, Kikuru Forest Reserve, Ruchwezi Forest Reserve, Munene Forest Reserve, Ruasina Forest Reserve, Kiamawa Forest Reserve, Kantale Forest Reserve, Kikongoro Forest Reserve, Kankuma Forest Reserve, Kiau Forest Reserve,
Rubare Forest Reserve, Malabigambo Forest, Kaiso Forest and Lugengera Forest(?). Towards the south Lake Ikimba can be seen. |
