The Distinguished Lecture Series panel of experts discussed how computational engineering will evolve in the next decades, with special emphasis on the challenges and opportunities that will come up as computational methods continue to be integrated with design, experimental research and medicine. The panel-based question and answer session included Thomas J.R. Hughes, the Peter O'Donnell Jr. Chair in Computational and Applied Mathematics and Professor of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, University of Texas at Austin, and was moderated by Hector Gomez, associate professor of Purdue Mechanical Engineering. Other panelists were all from Purdue University: Arezoo Ardekani, associate professor of Mechanical Engineering; Zhiqiang Cai, professor of Mathematics; Arun Prakash, associate professor of Civil Engineering; Vitaliy Rayz, assistant professor of Biomedical Engineering; and Thomas Siegmund and Ganesh Subbarayan, both professors of Mechanical Engineering.
