English: Alms box (Armenpfahl) in Mettingen, Kreis Steinfurt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Deutsch: Armenpfahl beim Prozessionshäuschen Bischofstraße in Mettingen-Ambergen, Kreis Steinfurt, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland. Der Armenpfahl ist ein ehemaliger Opferstein, der früher am Weg von Bockraden nach Mettingen stand. Er besteht aus einer etwa einen Meter hohen, aus Sandstein gehauenen Säule mit einem Durchmesser von etwa 25 Zentimetern. Über den ausgehöhlten Kopf war früher ein schmiedeeisernes Band gelegt, das in der Mitte eine Öffnung zum Einwerfen von Geldstücken für die Armen hatte und mit einem Vorhängeschloss seitlich verschlossen werden konnte.Nachdem der Opferstein ausgedient hatte, wurde er zum Andenken neben dem Prozessionshäuschen in Ambergen aufgestellt. Er steht als "Objekt der Volksfrömmigkeit" seit 1984 unter Denkmalschutz.
