Deutsch: Bernhard Afinger: Ernst Moritz Arndt-Denkmal - Bonn (Alter Zoll)
„Auf einer rechteckigen Sandsteinplatte erhebt sich ein vierstufiger Marmorpfeiler, der nach oben hin schmaler wird. Auf diesem Unterbau steht, einen Fuß vorgestellt und mit einer Hand zum Rhein deutend, das eherne Standbild Ernst Moritz Arndts. Aufgestellt am 21./22: Juli 1865, enthüllt am 29. Juli 1865, neu aufgestellt am 2. März 1950 und neu eingeweiht am 22. März 1951, erinnert das Denkmal an den deutschen Dichter und Professor an der Universität Bonn, Ernst Moritz Arndt... Ernst Moritz Arndt ist als überlebensgroßer Mann gegeben, er trägt einen schlichten Rock und wirkt lebendig und einfach. Die Haltung von Stand- und Spielbein sowie der erhobene Arm lockern das Statuarische etwas auf. Der Kopf weist porträthafte Züge auf. Flankiert wird die Figur Arndts von einem Baumstumpf, der frische Triebe zeigt - Symbol für die Lebenskraft Deutschlands. Die Sockelinschriften am Denkmal unterstreichen die patriotische Prägung in Arndts Dichtung.
