Español: En el siglo IX a.C. la reina Atalía de Judá, que fue la esposa del rey Joram, ordenó asesinar a todos los miembros de su familia a fin de que ella misma pudiera reinar tras la muerte de su hijo Ocozías. Pero Joás, hijo de Ocozías, fue escondido y consiguió salvarse, y cuando cumplió siete años fue proclamado rey de Judá en el Templo de Jerusalén y la reina Atalía fue asesinada, según consta en el Segundo Libro de los Reyes y en el Segundo Libro de las Crónicas.
