Description
Español: La Atalaya original de La Guardia era un pequeño castillo situado al comienzo del espigón que cierra el extremo norte del puerto de esa villa marinera. Fue construida en 1665, cuando esta villa gallega fue ocupada militarmente por Portugal, durante la Guerra de Independencia de ese país contra España (1640-1668). Es un pequeño fortín circular de 20 metros de diámetro y muros de 8 metros de alto. Las ruinas que quedaban de la Atalaya original fueron demolidas en 1943. La Atalaya, tal como se ve en la actualidad, fue reconstruida en 1997 en una ubicación distinta de la original, y en la actualidad se usa como Museo del Mar de La Guardia, dependiente del ayuntamiento de esa localidad.
