Français : Atelier de Marine du Canada, Augustin Cantin, Montréal Canada-Est

« Augustin Cantin (1809-1893), constructeur de navires, né à Cap-Santé. Il apprit à Québec le métier de charpentier de navires, puis il vint s’établir à Montréal où il fonda en 1841 un premier chantier de construction de bateaux, à l’angle des rues Prince et de la Commune. Pendant les travaux d’élargissement des écluses Saint-Gabriel du canal Lachine entre 1843-1848, il aménage un nouveau chantier, entre les rues Canning et Atwater, ce qui lui assura l’aisance et la notoriété. Un de ses fils continua l’œuvre de son père sous le nom de Canada Dry Dock Co, puis de Canada Marine Works. » – shpsc.org
