Description
Français : Autel à la paix Auguste, Narbonne, marbre, après 9 av. J.-C. Une des plus anciennes attestations du culte impérial à Narbonne. Dédicace offerte à la Paix (Pax) Auguste, offerte par un certain Titius Domitius Romulus. Décoré de la couronne de feuilles de chêne rappelant celle offerte à Auguste par le Sénat en 27 av. J.-C. en remerciement d'avoir ramené la paix à Rome. Provient de l'ancien palais de la Vicomté, aujourd'hui exposé au Musée Narbo Via.
English: Altar to Peace Augustus, Narbonne, marble, after 9 BC. One of the oldest testimonies of imperial worship in Narbonne. Dedication offered to the Peace (Pax) Augustus, offered by a certain Titius Domitius Romulus. Decorated with the crown of oak leaves reminiscent of the one offered to Augustus by the Senate in 27 BC in gratitude for bringing peace to Rome. From the former palace of the Vicomté, now exhibited at the Narbo Via Museum.
