| Description |
English: A partial capture of a "Copy of Map of Burlington To its Original boundaries From actual survey 1798". The map is generally oriented with north at the top. The river at the very north of the map is the "Onion River", known today as the "Winooski River". Highlighted in green at the center of the map is where the University Green is located today. The linear thoroughfare adjacent to the south, east, and west of the Green is the "Winooski Turnpike", known today as Main St. and/or Williston Rd. A copy of a complementary document, the "Copy of Division of Lands in Burlington" (obtained from the UVM Library Special Collections Department) was developed during a "proprietors' meeting" that took place on 16-20 June 1798, lists a great many of Lots which are "set to Ira Allen". |
