Description
English: BT Tower Looking up at the BT Tower from Cleveland Mews, with the tower reflected in mirror glass on the opposite side of the street.
  • The tower is 189m high and was opened in October 1965 by then Prime Minister Harold Wilson as an aerial tower for microwave communications.
  • Until fairly recently it was covered by the Official Secrets Act and it was technically illegal to take or possess photographs of it (despite it being one of London's most prominent landmarks); it was not even marked on OS maps until the mid-1990s. The tower is not open to the public.
