Summary[edit]

Description
English: "Bacaklı aş", the name given in Ankara and some other places of Central Anatolia to a Turkish lentil dish common to several parts of the country. Let me try to explain this simply. In Turkish language, "bacak" means leg, and "bacaklı" stands for "with legs". "Bacaklı" is in reference to the homemade (or artisanal) pasta called "kesme" or "erişte" (the latter name is of Persian origin) that accompany the green lentils that are the basic ingredient of this dish. For similarity with the Persian cuisine, please see File:Ash Reshteh.JPG at Category:Āsh. BTW the word "aş" in Turkish is of Persian origin and is used for any/every cooked food; indeed "aşevi" (aş house) is the Turkish equivalent for popular restaurants ("lokanta").
