Description

Arms of Badlesmere: Argent, a fess between two bars gemeles gules (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.39). Arms of Guncelin de Badlesmere (c.1232–c.1301), of Badlesmere in Kent, Justice of Chester. As recorded on the Herald's Roll of Arms [1] also on The Camden Roll, D189 & St George's Roll, E473). His son was Bartholomew de Badlesmere, 1st Baron Badlesmere (1275-1322) of Badlesmere and Chilham Castle in Kent. The 2nd Baron's son was w:Giles de Badlesmere, 2nd Baron Badlesmere (1314–1338), who died without issue, when his sisters became his co-heiresses:
