English: Balcomie Castle in winter James V's queen, Marie de Guise, made her first landfall in Scotland at Fife Ness, her captain having inexplicably mistaken Balcomie Castle for St Andrews. She spent her first night in her new realm here before her husband turned up the following morning to take her to the cosmopolitan delights of St Andrews, which may have come as something of a relief. |
