Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Western House was constructed at the corner of Leary Way NW & 20th Ave NW in 1890 by Thomas Johnson during Ballard's initial boom and was one of the largest boarding houses in the burgeoning town. Johnson purchased the lot on February 17, 1890 for $400 from the West Coast Improvement Company, the original developer of the town site. The Western has miraculously survived to modern times, though not without some alterations to the windows and siding. It's currently occupied by apartments and the Senor Moose Cafe on the ground floor.
