____________________________________ Nome volgare: Barbitiste montano Dimensioni: maschio 18-20 mm, femmina 20-21 mm, ovopositore 9-10 mm. Descrizione: cavalletta di colore verde con punteggiatura più o meno estesa. Rari gli individui scuri. Partendo dagli occhi si estendono, sul pronoto e sulle tegmine, due striscie gialle con bordo rosso. Anche le tegmine, le zampe ed i cerci sono di color rosso-arancio. La determinazione della specie avviene attraverso l'osservazione dei cerci del maschio: ricurvi ad S, arrotondati all'apice con un piccolo dente nero terminale. Distribuzione e habitat: specie tipicamente montana, presente su Alpi, Prealpi e Appennino centrale fino a 2000 metri di quota. Si rinviene in diversi ambienti: dalle alte erbe fresche, ai cespuglieti e boschi di conifere. Si nutre di vegetali ed altri invertebrati.

Periodo di attività: gli adulti sono presenti da giugno ad agosto.
