Barthelomew Gerald Aguugo is Nigerian filmmaker and scholar with wide interest in cinematic discusses. He is a native of Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. He was born on June 4th, into the family of Gerald and Celia Aguugo. Barthelomew is a screenwriter and filmmaker. He Wrote and Directed his first TV series “Importance of Education” in the year 2001, as the then President of the Rivers State Student Drama Club. He is known as Barth-Gerald by the Nigerian Movie industry, Nollywood. Barthelomew Gerald Aguugo has his primary education at the State School 1, Ibadan Street, Port Harcourt from 1991 to 1996 and proceeded to Government Secondary school Borokiri, Port Harcourt where he had his secondary education until 2002 when he wrote and passed his senior secondary school certificate examination at the National Professional Secondary School, Port Harcourt. Barthelomew Gerald Aguugo holds a B.Sc. and a Graduate Dipmloma in Transport and Logistics Management. But following his passion for the screen and his long years of practice in the film industry, Barthelomew took up a Master of Fine Art (MFA) Degree in film studies from the University of Port Harcourt – as a pioneer student of the degree and made the best graduating student of his class. Thereafter, he proceeded to take a PhD in film directing from same University of Port Harcourt. Barthelomew Gerald Aguugo is the MD of Cosset Media, an offshoot of Cosset Global Services Nig. Ltd., incorporated under Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission in 2009. Barthelomew has many movies, musical videos, saop-operas, and film articles to his credit. He was the Secretary General of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter, Chairman of same guild and thereafter proceeded to serve as the national Chief Press Secretary of the guild; a position he holds till date. Owing to his campaign promise to ensure capacity building for all Actors in Rivers State, Barth facilitated for the guild and other relative organizations the first ever University of Port Harcourt/Nollywood fuse, a crash capacity building workshop held at the University of Port Harcourt’s Theater and Film Studies Department, between February and March 2017 with a second edition in 2018. The workshop which produced four feature films and six short films also hosted some very experienced personalities within the industry, such as Nigeria’s first Professor of film studies, Professor Femi Shaka, Professor Innocent Ohiri allias Willywilly (producer and director of 1980s TV series “Hot Cash”), Nollywood's veteran and foremost action director Teco Benson, one of Nigeria super star actors – Dr. Sam Dede and many other friends and colleagues in Nollywood. This laudable project attracted reputable media organizations, practitioners and theorists alike from various parts of the country. Also amongst the over 400 beneficiaries trained were members of staff from the Rivers State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, African Independent Television AIT, RSTV etc., all trained under the sponsorship of the Barthelomew led administration.

Barthelomew is married to Mrs. Ruth Barth-Gerald and their union is blessed with 2 lovely daughters, Fechi and Isioma Barth-Gerald.
