Description
English:
Exhibition building, former carriage depot of Batthyány-Strattmann Mansion. About the complex: The oldest part of the complex built in 17th century. Several time remodelled. Built on foundation of the Körmend Castle (most of its destroyed in the 17th century). Significant construction dates: 1610s, 1650s architect Filiberto Lucchese, builder master Carlo della Torre; in the 1st half of 18th century by architect Donato Felice de Allio; remodelled in Neo-Classical style in 1799-1809; remodelled in Historicist style in the 1880s. The are Neo-Baroque elements, these are 1920 works. In 1945 occupied by Soviet Red Army to barrack. Remodelled to student accomodation in the 1960s. In 2001 the mansion chapel restored - 13 -17 Rákóczi Street (Route 8)=3-9 Dr. Batthyány-Strattmann László Street=Szabadság Square, Körmend, Vas County, Hungary.
