Description
English: White metal medallion d. = 44 mm.

Louis XIV, King of France 1643 - 1715 and Anna, Queen of Great Britain, 1702 - 1714.

This medal commemorates the victory of the Duke of Marlborough over the French Marshal Duc de Villeroi.

Minerva (Queen Anne) subdues a Roman warrior (Louis XIV). Curved above: "LUDOVICVS MAGNVS ANNA MAIOR"/ Victory walking l. At r. 4 lines on a shield: "CLADES GALLOR IN BRAB 23 MAI". 4 l. in exergue: XII· VRBES CVM PROVINCIIS INTRA XV D: RECEPTÆ· 1706". All surrounded by 12 shields inscribed: "BRVSELLA MECHLINIA LIERA ANTVERPIA FVRNA ALOSTVM ATHVM ALDENARDA BRVGÆ GANDAVIVM DAMIVM LOVANIVM" for 12 cities Brussels, Mechelen, Lier, Antwerp, Furnes (Veurne), Aalst, Ath, Oudenarde (Oudenaarde), Bruges (Brugge), Ghent (Gent), Damme, Leuven (Louvain), succumbed to the British allies in the aftermath of the Battle of Ramillies. Edge lettering: "DOMINVS TRADIDIT EVM IN MANVS FŒMINÆ IVDITH · C ·". Eimer 421.
