Description
English: First Settlers arrived in 1853.

Originally called "Cob Coy" was changed and renamed Baxter from the first postmaster, J. Baxter Coulson.

Canadian Pacific Railway was build through Baxter in 1906 and the station was torn down in 1965.
Early Family names are Cochrane, Edgar, Denney, Gauley, Ruddick, Turnbull.
