Summary[edit]

Description
English: I saw Bebenhausen castle on my first trip with my new 1960 Volkswagen. It had been part of a monastery. After Napoleon dissolved the monastery (and other monasteries in territories that he controlled), the newly promoted King Friedrich I of Württemberg converted part of it to a hunting castle (Jagdschloss).

I took delivery of my new VW on Friday, June 3, after a wait of almost six months. The first thing I did was drive on the road east from Heilbronn to Weinsberg, to get used to the car and its four-speed transmission. That was easier than I had expected.
I took my first real trip the next day. My friend Jim VanderMeer and I went to Tübingen. I made a brief photo stop here, in Bebenhausen, a northern district of Tübingen.
I took some photos in Tübingen, including classic views of buildings along the Neckar River, but do not have any of them. I have only a small fraction of the slides which I took during my U.S. Army time in Europe in 1960-1961.

Jim received delivery of his new Volkswagen the following week, and I went somewhere with him that weekend.
