Description
Deutsch: Das ehemalige Handelshaus Hermes, heute Haus Dorotheenstadt, an der Universitätsstraße, Ecke Georgenstraße (links), in Berlin-Mitte. Das Gebäude wurde 1912-1913 nach einem Entwurf von Johann Emil Schaudt als repräsentatives Geschäfts- und Bürohaus errichtet. Die repräsentative Fassade an der Universitätsstraße im neoklassizistischem Stil lässt die geringe Tiefe des Gebäudes übersehen und es imposant wirken. Das Gebäude ist denkmalgeschützt.
English: The former "Business House Hermes", now "House Dorotheenstadt", on Universitätsstraße, corner of Georgenstraße (on the left), in Berlin-Mitte. It was constructed 1912-1913 to a design by Johann Emil Schaudt as a commercial and office building. The representative facade in the style of Neoclassicism on Georgenstraße creates the impression of magnitude although the building is actually not very deep. The building is landmarked.
