Deutsch: Beschreibung der Löwenburg im Siebengebirge |
| Inscription | Die Löwenburg Die Löwenburg – erstmals 1247 erwähnt – diente als Grenzfeste der Grafen von Sayn gegen die kurkölnischen Burgen Drachenfels und Wolkenburg. Durch Erbfolge gelangte sie in den Besitz der Herren von Sponheim-Heinsberg, die sich ab 1269 als Herren von Löwenburg bezeichneten. In der Folge zahlreicher Besitzerwechsel fiel die Burg 1484 an das Herzogtum Jülich-Berg und bildete das Amt Löwenburg, welches bis zur Mitte des 16. Jhrdt. von der Burg aus verwaltet wurde. Die Kriege des 16. und 17. Jhrdt. liessen sie zur Ruine werden. Der Bergfried wurde 1881 wegen Baufälligkeit abgetragen. 1861 übernahm die Königlich Preussische Oberförsterei Siebengebirge – das heutige STAATLICHE FORSTAMT SIEGBURG – die Verwaltung des Ruinengrundstückes. Von 1977–1985 hat die Landesforstverwaltung unter Mitwirkung des Staatshochbauamtes Bonn umfangreiche Sicherungs- und Restaurierungsarbeiten vorgenommen. Das Rheinische Landesmuseum – Amt für Bodendenkmalpflege – begleitete die Arbeiten. Staatliches Forstamt Siegburg SW 1989 |
