English: A sign in a room in an erotic massage parlor of Montreal refers to the controversial Bill C-36 (Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act), a federal law on prostitution in Canada that came into effect on 6 December 2014. The photo has been taken in September 2015. The location is redacted to protect this business and its employees. Signs such as this one are not uncommon (normally without the C-36 reference) in massage parlors of Montreal, even though such establishments are legal and sexual services are offered despite what's stated on the sign.
Upper sign reads: "Bill C-36. It is a crime to discuss or purchase sexual services. No sex is allowed in this establishment." Lower sign reads: in French, "Massage Professionel et thérapeutique. Aucuns services sexuels", and its literal English translation "Professional Therapeutic Massage. Des affiches de ce genre ne sont pas rares dans les salons de massage de Montréal (habituellement sans la référence à la loi C-36), bien que l'existence de tels commerces soit légale dans cette ville et que des services sexuels y soient offerts, malgré ce que prétend l'affiche.
Est écrit en anglais sur l'affiche du haut : «Bill C-36. It is a crime to discuss or purchase sexual services. No sex is allowed in this establishment.» Traduction en français : «Loi C-36. C'est un crime de discuter ou d'acheter des services sexuels. Le sexe n'est pas permis dans cet établissement.» Est écrit sur l'affiche, plus grande, du bas : «Massage Professionel et thérapeutique. Aucuns services sexuels» et sa traduction littérale en anglais «Professional Therapeutic Massage. Services are strickly non-sexual». |
