Summary[edit]
DescriptionBinfield, Red Rose - geograph.org.uk - 1056908.jpg |
English: Binfield: Red Rose Red Rose is the intriguing name of this estate road. To be honest it sounds like one of those names plucked out of a hat by a 1980s council road-naming committee with nothing else better to do on a Friday afternoon. However that is not the case. The road existed as a track and is shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1872, while the name Red Rose first appears on the map of 1912. A check on the 1881 Census also lists twenty households with an address of Red Rose, Binfield. |
