This is a beautiful representation of Texas German culture during a 10 day festival in New Braunfels, Texas
Summary
[edit]| Description |
English: In the 1960s, native German-Texan immigrants organized a 1 day festival that grew into 10 days of German music, food and beer! Nestled in the scenic hill-country of Texas, New Braunfels was founded in 1845 by Prince Carl Solms von Braunfels. Ever since, her descendants have honored those thousands of immigrants from Germany with festivals year round. This culture has widely been known as “German Texan”. German Texans to this day still speak the old Saxon dialect which had not been heard for over 150 years.
This is a picture of the Blasmusik Kapelle, or “community band” which provides traditional German music year round; playing styles such as Egerlander or oberkrainer style music.
