Summary[edit]

Description
English: Boat Pond This long lake is viewed from the public footpath which crosses the pondtail. It is used for fishing now, but the 1887 Ordnance Survey map calls it Boat Pond and appears to show it dry and vegetated. It could well be associated with the old Wealden iron industry, which had local establishments evidenced by the nearby Cinder Hill and Cinder Farm, and particularly by Oven Wood at the far end of the lake.
