| Description |
The very rare site of two operational 747SPs! While they have very different histories, both are now operated by the Las Vegas Sands Corp. Nearest is SP-31 ‘VP-BLK’ c/n 21961, l/n 415. Built in 1979 as N58201 for Trans World Airlines (TWA), in 1985 she was sold to the UAE Government and was operated by them as A6-SMR until 2007, when she joined Las Vegas Sands. Behind is SP-21 ‘VQ-BMS’ c/n 21649, l/n 373. She was also built in 1979, but this time for Pan Am as N540PA. She flew with them until joining United Airlines as N149UA in early 1986. In late 1993 she moved to Tajik Air of Tajikistan, becoming the only 747 they ever operated. In 1995 she moved again, now being operated by the Brunei Government. Initially registered as V8-JBB, she also wore V8-JP1 and V8-AC1 until, in 1998, becoming A9C-HHH with the Bahrain Amiri Flight. Reregistered as A9C-HMH in 2002, she remained in service until 2008 when she was briefly stored before becoming part of the Las Vegas Sands fleet as VQ-BMS. Visible behind them is Airbus A340-541 ‘VP-BMS’ c/n 0560. One of five -500 models operated by Singapore Airlines, she first flew in 2004 as 9V-SGD, joining Las Vegas Sands in 2014.
