English: Boot's chemists in Bridport I think it is as important a job of the Geograph project to show ugly features as attractive ones, so here for your viewing pleasure(?) is Boot's at the junction of East, West and South Streets, Bridport. A fairly ordinary shop front you may think, but it is right on the town's main road junction and its ill-proportioned, stark and to my mind ugly facade dominates the view up South Street. (It can unfortunately be seen in some other geographs of this grid square). It is not the worst shopfront in Bridport - see my picture of the Oxfam shop, if you dare...
The beautiful Colmer's hill SY4493, another major Bridport landmark, is largely concealed behind the traffic light, although part of Quarry Hill SY4393 is visible. One noteworthy point is that if you stand at a point a bit further west from this viewpoint you are right in the centre of town but can see open country to the East, West and South. |
