Summary
[edit]DescriptionBoundary stone and tumulus on Rhos - geograph.org.uk - 1210517.jpg |
English: Boundary stone and tumulus on Rhos Many of the boundary stones along the District boundary here are carved with the letters 'WWW'. I didn't notice them on this particular one, but they may have weathered out, given the exposed position. On the other hand, and assuming it's a burial site, whoever was buried in the tumulus here must have been very much respected by his peers, as the climb up to this point from every direction except the NE is a proper knee-wrecker. A tremendous viewpoint.
The main ridge of the Berwyns range is visible in the distance, along with the forest patch on Mynydd Tarw. The poor dog did not appreciate being left the other side of the fence while I took this picture... |
