| Description |
English: Bournemouth: flag flying outside the Town Hall This blue and yellow flag, featuring the town's coat of arms, is flown outside the 637216 when a Full Council meeting is in progress.
Each of the two lions, top-left and bottom-right, holds a rose - the emblem of Hampshire, in which Bournemouth was situated until 1974. The bottom-left quarter contains four salmon, representing the River Stour, the northern boundary of the borough. The six birds, top-right, are martlets, heraldic birds with no legs and, along with the colours yellow and blue, are taken from the Royal Arms of Edward the Confessor, in whose estate the area was situated. |
