English: Built in 1924, this Sullivanesque-style building was designed by Edward J. Thole, Sr. of the firm Fowler and Thole for the Bozeman-Waters National Bank, which folded during the Great Depression in 1931, leaving the town of Poseyville without a bank until 1940, when the building became a branch of the Farmers Bank and Trust Company, based in nearby Wadesville, Indiana. The building is one of the best copies of Louis Sullivan’s “Jewel Box” banks built in small towns across the midwest in the early 20th Century, which featured large windows, terra cotta trim, and intricate ornamentation, with the more conservative Classical Revival style being more popular among banks at the time. The building features an orange brick exterior, tan terra cotta with intricate geometric and floral motifs, large stained glass windows, a limestone base, a one-story rear wing, and one-over-one windows on the first floor. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, and today houses a branch of Fifth Third Bank.
