Summary[edit]

Description
English: Bracken growing beside the path One of the last few remaining ancient wood pastures in the county, Thursford Wood contains some of the oldest pollarded oaks in Norfolk. Wood pastures have only a scattering of trees, with open spaces between. This method of land management - allowing for cattle to graze freely in the woods whilst a harvest of pokes could be grown overhead - was abandoned in the 1600s but many of the old trees have survived until today.
