Summary[edit]

Description
English: A relic of the International Exhibition held in the Meadows in 1886, the pillar was commissioned by the Edinburgh and Leith Brass Founders. The figure represents the biblical character, Tubal-cain, the "instructor of every artificer in brass and iron" (Gen. 4:22). Panels on four sides display shields bearing the coats-of-arms of Scottish burghs.
