Summary[edit]
DescriptionBrayton Bridge - geograph.org.uk - 753799.jpg |
English: Brayton Bridge Arched stone road bridge over the Selby Canal on Brayton Lane, south of Selby. The canal was built in the 1770s by the Aire and Calder Canal Company, worried by rumours of a planned canal between Leeds and Selby which could have taken some of their business. It was dug in a hurry and as a result was only three and a half feet deep. Part of the Trans Pennine Trail runs northward along the towpath from here to the River Ouse. |
