| Description |
English: Brickworks and Low Fields Industrial Estate, Elland. - The brickworks in the left half of the photo is the main subject. It was formerly the Calder Fire Clay Works but the quarrying now is for shale, which is mixed with clay to make bricks. Stacks of red-brown bricks can be seen to the left of the sheds. Beyond, and partly in other squares, is the Low Fields estate on the site of a former power station and former sewage works. The meandering river is the Calder. The viewpoint is Strangsty Wood. |
