| Description |
English: Bridleway, Stockton Wood, Stockton. Here a bridleway along the northern edge of Stockton Wood joins a north-south restricted byway just beyond the gate. This byway also runs along the edge of the wood, off camera to the right, to the A303 trunk road 800m away. In this part of Stockton Woods and the adjacent chalk downland are the remains of a huge Iron Age settlement, see 493451. The woods here and the nearby downland is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). |
