| Description |
English: Bridleway near Manor Farm, Chilmark. This view looking south is of a bridleway on the south side of the A303 opposite Stockton Wood. The bridleway is not heavily used judging by the undergrowth and the track, no doubt because it has to cross the single carriageway of the A303 trunk road where traffic is very fast, with a dual carriageway starting to the west. The wood to the right of the photo is Hart Copse. The bridleway runs from Stockton in the valley of the River Wylye to the north-east to Chilmark to the south. At this point it descends quite steeply over 1km from 190m to about 130m to meet the Ox Drove, an ancient drove road, see 488589. |
