Summary[edit]

Description
English: Bristol from East Dundry Lane. A similar view is seen in 1325540.

The slopes of Dundry Hill are in the foreground, then comes Withywood and Headley Park. Up to the 1940's and early 50's this scene was dominated by church spires and towers, the spires and towers are still there but they are dominated by council flats and office blocks. Some of the landmarks to be seen middle distance from left to right are the Cabot Tower, under cloud near the left hand edge, the Wills Memorial Building in sun at the top of Park Street with an unknown building (looks like a church) in front of it, the Royal Fort surrounded by university buildings, and, standing out like a sore thumb, an incinerator chimney near the Bristol Royal Infirmary. Come down a little and to the right a little and you may find Bristol Cathedral on College Green. To the right of that the gardens of the Tramways Centre - sorry - St. Augustine's Parade, are well hidden by office blocks and at least one multistorey car park. No doubt any Bristolians viewing will find a few more. This image has been reduced because of the limitations of the media - if we used the original images we would soon run out of memory.
