Summary[edit]

Description
English: Britain's most northerly Sport Relief mile, Baltasound Organised by Baltasound Junior High School's PE teacher, this was the most northerly Sport Relief Mile in Britain. Over 200 people took part, not bad for an island with a population of about 400, although people came from the neighbouring islands of Fetlar and Yell, as well as further afield. Over £1000 was raised for Sport Relief. People of all ages took part over one mile, three mile and six mile courses (most walking, but a few running) and they included the local fire crew and coastguard and the local policemen, all in uniform, the Uyeasound Up Helly Aa Jarl's squad in costume, members of the Unst football and netball teams in their kits, two people on stilts (one in full clown regalia), and lots of buggies and babies, the youngest just a few weeks old.
