| Description |
Ringed Pins functioned as simple dress fasteners and essentially consist of pins with separate swivel rings inserted in the heads. Several different types of ringed pins are known, differentiated from one another on the basis of the form of their pinheads and rings. The Hunt Museum collection has two examples of the plain-ringed class (HCA 523 and 520) while the others are kidney-ringed in form; all four examples feature polyhedral headed pins. Engraving or stamping decorates the objects, with particular attention paid to the pinheads. Simple interlaced twin-link motifs occur in this position on two of the pins (HCA 520 and MGO 63). |
