Description

Română: Bucuresti, Romania. BISERICA ALBA. 15 Aprilie.

Primele informaţii istorice despre existenţa sfântului locaş (cu hramurile „Sfântul Ierarh Nicolae“, „Sfântul Mucenic Haralambie“ şi „Sfântul Proroc Ilie Tesviteanul“) datează de la începutul secolului al XVIII-lea, ctitorii ei fiind Vişa - jupâneasa din Băjeşti împreună cu preotul Neagu Dârvaş şi cu soţia lui, Rada. Denumirea de Biserica Albă s-a impus după anul 1800. Despre începuturile Bisericii Albe dă mărturie o icoană a Sfântului Nicolae din anul 1702, inscripţionată: „Simeon zugrav. Icoana a fost restaurată în anul 2011 de pictorul restaurator dr. Marin Coteţiu şi se găseşte astăzi în colecţia de icoane a Patriarhiei Române. Pictura interiorului Bisericii realizată în tehnica ulei, în anul 1873, aparţine renumitului pictor Gheorghe Tattarescu.

Între componentele de mare valoare ale bisericii se numără catapeteasma, lucrată în anii 1845-1847 la Viena. Catapeteasma este o capodoperă a sculpturii în lemn: „Ornamentul e compus din fructe şi flori împletite în trei fâşii înguste şi lungi cuprinzând şi figuri de animale, motiv rareori întrebuinţat în bisericile româneşti“.
